Berenice Abbott
Berenice Abboott was born in 1898 at Springfield, OH. She studied at Ohio State University and then traveled to New York to study sculptures. She then became interested in modern photography in traveling to Europe as an assistant to Man Ray. She then encountered the work of Eugene Atget who heavily influenced the work she would do. In this art piece Abbott takes a photo of the façade of Alwyn Court, a 12-story apartment located in midtown, Manhattan. The building is shot at an angle and the structure itself has many patterns. Its detailed designs create this pattern principle.
